Drought Communities Support Initiative (DCSI)
The Commonwealth Government has provided several charities – including the Rotary Australia Benevolent Society (RABS) – with an opportunity to distribute drought relief benefits to farmers, farm workers, and farm contractors and suppliers that have been adversely impacted by drought and reside within the listed Drought Declared Local Government Areas (LGA)
     Benefits
Approved applicants will receive:
  • $2000 paid directly to their bank account, and
  • $1000 as a voucher or paid off a bill you have from a business in your local town (e.g. fuel supplier, ag. business, farm supplier, pharmacist, your accountant).
     Eligibility
To be eligible to receive cash payments and/or vouchers the recipient of the benefit must be:
  • 18 years of age or older and a farmer, farm worker or farm supplier/contractor who:
  • Lives and/or works in one of the following eligible Local Government Areas:
Bega Valley, Bland, Blayney, Cabonne, Carrathool, Forbes, Lachlan, Oberon, Parkes, Narrandera
  • Is in need of financial assistance to pay for food, petrol, utility bills or another need, or is at imminent risk of not being able to pay for these goods and services.
The benefit provided is limited to one per household to a maximum of up to $3,000 that can comprise a combination of up to $2,000 cash payments and up to $1,000 in vouchers (to be expended before 30 June 2019).
Claiming twice
You may apply to more than one provider for a $3000 benefit, but benefits are limited to one per household. If you receive a benefit via one charity you should contact other charities you have applied to and cancel the additional applications. If you fail to do so it is likely you will be contacted by the Commonwealth and asked to pay back additional benefits received.

This funding  has been made possible through a   program to distribute the donations received from the combined RAWCS, National Farmers Federation and Channel 9 Today Drought Relief Appeal.  This page is an information and resource site for drought relief activities conducted  by Rotary Clubs
 
Applications for Clubs
Applications for clubs to become involved in the distribution of the donated funds  are welcomed.  There are two application forms involved.  One is for clubs wishing to be involved with the Voucher program, and the other is for clubs wanting to participate and apply for funding, but not in the voucher program.  Both applications are downloadable by clicking the links at your left.  Also available in the download box are additional documents that are recommended for clubs interested in applying for funding.
